Our team adheres to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and acts in accordance with the values and core principles that drive positive customer experiences. We understand that it can be difficult for consumers to know whether a phone call from a debt collector is legitimate. Consumers can be assured that Unifund is a legitimate business. To help you in your financial wellness journey, you should be aware of your rights.

  • Debt Collectors cannot harass, oppress, or abuse you or anyone else they contact such as repetitive phone calls that are intended to annoy, abuse, or harass you or any person answering the phone.
  • Debt Collectors cannot call you before 8 AM, after 9 PM, or at times they know are inconvenient (unless you specifically agree to it).
  • You have the right to tell a debt collector to stop communicating with you.
  • Debt collectors may not use threats of violence or harm or use obscene or profane language.
  • By law, a debt collector who says that you owe money is required by law to tell you the name of the creditor, the amount you owe, and how you can dispute or seek verification of the debt.
